# Tier comparison

> Violet, Deep Violet, Ultraviolet — what each unlocks.

Inviolet ships in three tiers. The free tier (Violet) is a complete product;
paid tiers add identity-aware enforcement, vault binding, and the database
proxy.

## When to upgrade

* **Violet → Deep Violet** the moment you connect an IdP. Without identity,
  you can't run policy.
* **Deep Violet → Ultraviolet** when compliance requires last-mile enforcement
  at the database — typically HIPAA, PCI, SOC 2 Type 2, or first regulated
  customer.
